Scholarship Information
Austin ISD receives notices of many scholarships each year. Most of these scholarships are in the AISD scholarship database, available here. For more details on that and listings from that database, see the AndersonPTSA scholarships page here.
There are a many web sites with college and scholarship information and offerings; a few of these are listed below.
General Scholarship / College Information Sites
- collegefortexans.com - Maintained by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating board, this site has “everything a Texas resident needs to know about preparing for, applying to, and paying for college or technical school.”
- www.fafsa.ed.gov - Free Application for Federal Student Aid site. Families of all college-bound students should seriously consider completing the FAFSA, and to submit the application as soon after January 1 of the senior year as possible (no need to wait for your W-2; estimate and amend your application when you have your W2). Also remember to submit a fafsa application every year your child is in college.
- www.fastweb.com - Extensive information on colleges, scholarships, internships and much more. Log on and create a personal profile for the student to receive emails of relevant scholarships.
- www.collegeboard.com - Finding, applying and paying for a college; SAT tips, a daily emailed SAT practice question and much more. Their Scholarship Search area was “created tool to help you locate scholarships, internships, grants, and loans that match your education level, and talents.
- www.students.gov - Links to many government agencies that have everything for students: study guide help; finding and paying for college; campus life, career info, student consumer info and much more.
- www.scholarships.com - Source for free college scholarship searches and financial aid information and all things college.
- www.aie.org - Adventures In Education is a nonprofit, public benefit program developed by Texas Guaranteed Student Loans that helps students and parents plan, find scholarships for college and much more. It also offers a free weekly email with information and tips for freshmen through seniors and their parents.
- www.aie.org/College/index.cfm is the set of Adventures In Education pages for college students - and they also contain great information for high school students who are planning for college, including paying for college, loan calculator, information on loans (including a loan repayment chart), scholarships and much more.
- www.college-scholarships.com - has links to many scholarship sites, information on colleges, universities and technical and trade schools throughout the United States, information about online degrees and distance learning and much more.
- www.applytexas.org - has admission information for every Texas Public University, plus some private and two-year schools. Complete and submit your admission and scholarship applications online from this site.
General college information

I don’t know what areas of study interest me - what careers will be in high demand in the future?
Visit careervoyages.gov. This site has much information for students, parents and advisors on in-demand occupations and careers, including industry overviews and for specific jobs, descriptions, salary ranges, education requirements and more.
Where can I find information about career, trade and technical schools?
Many trade and technical schools are regulated by the Career Schools and Colleges department of the Texas Workforce Commission - see https://services.twc.state.tx.us/PECOSRPT/propschool for a list of Texas schools they regulate (including the schools’ web sites, programs offered, the cost and more).
