    General College Information

College Visits - College visits will be scheduled by Ms. Reynolds, Project ADVANCE College Advisor, and announced on the morning announcements. If a student is interested in attending a college visit on our campus, he/she should sign up on the individual sheets posted on the College Visit bulletin board. The visits are usually held in the College and Career Center, except for those drawing a large crowd. The day before a visit a reminder will be sent to the student. Presentations last about an hour. Classroom teachers may choose to have a student remain in class if there is a special project, presentation, or test. College representatives leave copies of information presented for us to hand out to students who missed the presentation. Please visit Project ADVANCE College News for an up-to-date listing.

Applications - There are certain sections on many college and university applications that counselors have to fill out. Counselors must have three weeks to process your application. You must provide them with adequately stamped, addressed envelopes for the applications. Make sure your part of the application is complete, they cannot get the application back to you once they have filled it out. The application must be mailed by the school.

Letters of Recommendation - If you are asking a counselor or teacher to write a letter of recommendation, give them at least three weeks notice. Please remember they are off duty during winter break; do not expect them to use their holidays to write letters. Please be sure to provide a stamped, addressed envelope to your letter writers so they can mail the letters directly. In addition, add a note including the exact date that the recommendation is due to the college or scholarship committee. (And don’t forget to say Thank You!)

Requests for Transcripts - Request for transcripts must be made in writing (not over the phone).
