Approximately 20 parents met last Friday to begin discussion on the book Letting Go: A Parents’ Guide to Understanding the College Years. Everyone is welcome to join us this Friday, Jan. 15, at noon, in the Library’s Distance Learning Lab to continue the discussion. We are reading through page 99 this week. Last week, the book focused on the teen’s desire to find identity, independence, and intimacy. Our parents specifically discussed topics like whether cars are needed during a child’s freshman year at college, how to make sure a child can handle money, what expectations should a parent have regarding regular communication, and much more. You don’t have to read the book to participate. Everyone is welcome! For more information, contact Julie Cowan at Jscowan@aol.com or 794-9389.
