    Trojan Times - November 1, 2009

    A Message from our Principal

    Parents, Guardians, and Students:

This is the last week of the second six weeks.  We are rapidly closing in on the end of the semester, the end of football and volleyball season and looking forward to the holiday season coming up.  Please encourage students to study hard this week so that the second six week grades meet their expectations.  Anderson High School is a high performing school with very high standards and students really do have to work hard to be successful.  Give your student an extra hug this week as he/she will need it.

Anderson will be hosting an AISD Budget Conversation with Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen on November 12th at 6:00 in the cafeteria.  Parents, guardians, and students are invited to attend to offer input on the district’s budget.  Dr. Carstsaphen would like to hear from all parents and students about programs and initiatives which are priorities.  The needs of the Anderson Vertical Team community are unique and this opportunity to meet and discuss our school community’s priorities comes at a pivotal time.  Dr. Carstarphen is setting the direction for her new administration and her vision for the school district, as a whole.  Please consider attending this very important meeting.

Last week, we said “Good-Bye” to a great friend of Anderson High School, Ira Poole.  Starting at 4:30 on Friday, before this week’s football game, our Tailgating Society will be recognizing the contributions of Mr. Poole to the Anderson community.  Stop by the Tailgaters’ tent to share memories and contribute to the Kidney Cancer Association in Ira’s name.

Ms. Szabo, our IB Coordinator, Judy Trusty, our Lead Counselor, and I will be attending the Murchison Principals’ Coffee on Tuesday to discuss course planning and transition to high school with the parents of our incoming eighth graders.  If you have an eighth grader who will be joining our Anderson family, please come to the coffee at Murchison on Tuesday morning at 8:30 to hear a presentation and ask any questions you might have about this important “next step.”

Have a great week.  Help students to handle the stress of six week testing and project due-dates.  We are almost ready for that final push to get us to the end of the semester.

    Donna Houser
    Principal
