I’ll start by thanking all parents and guardians who attended Back to School Night last Wednesday. We had a good turnout and your attendance proved to your children and their teachers that you do care about education at Anderson High School. The idea to move Mrs. Houser’s welcome and the one from yours truly (boy, was that hard to watch!!) from the gym to first period classes seemed to work well. The video created and narrated by Mike McMinn was also very powerful. School administrators and PTSA executive officers are very committed to keeping our children safe. Please do your part to follow the law, particularly when it comes to alcohol and minors.
We are beginning the third week of school. That means 3-week grade reports should be out in a week or so. This is the perfect time to remind your child to take advantage of their teachers’ tutorials and test reviews. Every one of the teachers I heard from at BTSN made a point to mention that tutorials are available. I don’t know about you, but I’d certainly need to attend them if I were in high school again!
We hope many freshman parents will attend the assembly Monday night from 7 – 9 p.m. in the theater. This will be an opportunity to hear from the counselors and to have questions that may have arisen during these first couple weeks of school answered. I’ll be there as I start over with my freshman twins.
See you around campus!
