    clubGEN Facilitator Position

    Dear Anderson High School PTSA Members,

    Let me introduce myself; I am Lora Alaniz GENaustin (AISD after school
    program) Outreach Specialist and I am currently recruiting GENaustin
    Mentors/Facilitators for the 2008-09 school year. This is a paid
    internship and I would like to give a quick program overview of the
    program and qualification for applying. I have attached a one page
    flyer that can be given to possible applicants along with an
    application.

    I will be glad to make visit to one of your monthly meetings to further
    inform students and parents.

    If you have any questions or if there is anything I can do, please do
    not hesitate to contact me.

    Thank you in advance for helping me get the word out to current 10th
    and 11th grade high school girls who might benefit form our program.

    Program Overview:

    clubGEN is a weekly, after-school program that trains high school girls
    (facilitators) to be peer mentors for middle school girls
    (participants.) High school girls will lead activities that build
    self-esteem, resilience, confidence, and leadership in middle school
    girl and work along side an adult mentor of their own. Facilitators
    will also have the opportunity to develop valuable teamwork and
    leadership skills and through our unique workforce development program
    facilitators will learn to set goals with their money and build
    professional experience while helping other girls.

    Position Highlights:

    •    The clubGEN facilitator position is a paid position, $8. per hour
    •    Trainings is scheduled for August 22nd and 23rd, makeup training
    Sept. 8th
    •    Applicants receive a paycheck in their name twice monthly
    •    Weekly curriculum training with adult mentor
    •    Monthly professional development meetings
    •    Develop leadership skills and work with UT graduate students
    •    Work with other high school girls and develop new friendships and
    networks

    Applicant Requirements:

    •    Open to female students who will be Juniors and Seniors in the
    2008-09 school year.
    •    Deadline March 14th, 2008
    •    Facilitators are asked to commit to their positions for the full
    school year.
    •    Facilitators are asked to be available after school on Fridays for
    planning sessions.
    •    The general schedule for clubGEN meetings is after school until
    6:00pm.
    •    Facilitators are asked to have reliable transportation.
    •    All Facilitators are asked to have access to email for communication
    regarding clubGEN.
    •    Facilitators must be available to lead clubs after school at least
    two days per week.
    •    All Facilitators must attend several training events throughout the
    year in addition to the club meetings.
    •    All Applications MUST BE COMPLETE WITH A LETTER OF REFERNCE. (Form is
    included on the last page of application)
